When a new hotel opens in Cadiz old town, I notice. Not because anyone sends me a press release, but rather because suddenly I am getting bookings to a street I did not have on my regular rotation. La Caleta QE Hotels started appearing in my booking system in the spring of 2025, and within a few months it became one of the most requested drop-off addresses in the historic centre.
That tells me something. Hotels with awkward locations, difficult access, or guests who arrive and immediately regret the choice do not generate repeat bookings for my taxi. La Caleta QE Hotels does. Therefore, I did what I always do for the hotels I work with regularly: I put together an honest guide for the guests arriving there.
What follows is what you actually need to know. Where the hotel is, how to get there from the airport without a headache, what the surrounding area is like, and a few things that reviews on booking sites never quite explain.
The Short Answer
La Caleta QE Hotels is a boutique 3-star hotel with 21 rooms located at Calle Pericón de Cádiz 16 in the historic old town of Cadiz, a 2-minute walk from La Caleta beach. It opened in March 2025 and holds a 9.6 guest rating on Booking.com based on over 500 reviews. The closest airport is Jerez de la Frontera (XRY), approximately 35 to 40 minutes by private transfer.

What La Caleta QE Hotels Actually Is
QE Hotels is a Spanish boutique hotel group with a clear brief: small properties, well-located, modern fit-out, and high service attention. In this case, La Caleta is their Cadiz flagship. Twenty-one rooms is a deliberate choice, not a limitation. As a result, the front desk team can actually pay attention to each guest, which is exactly what the reviews consistently highlight. Names like Alicia and Ismael come up repeatedly in the feedback, which is not something that happens at a 200-room city hotel.
The building is newly refurbished. Inside, the rooms are clean and modern, with soundproofed windows, Nespresso machines, minibars, and proper air conditioning that works, something worth noting when Cadiz hits 35 degrees in August. In addition, some rooms have balconies with city views. The rooftop terrace has a small pool, which guests describe accurately as compact but with a panoramic view over the old town that makes up for the size.
The breakfast gets mixed reviews. Continental, available from 8am, and a few guests mention going out for breakfast instead. However, the surrounding neighbourhood has good options within a short walk, so this is not a problem. El Faro restaurant, one of the most respected in the city, is around the corner.
The hotel does not have its own parking. Instead, the nearest option is Parking Valcárcel, about two minutes on foot. If you are arriving by taxi or private transfer, the drop-off at Calle Pericón de Cádiz is straightforward and the driver can get close to the entrance without any difficulty.

The Location: Why It Works
Calle Pericón de Cádiz sits in the La Viña neighbourhood, which is the part of the old town closest to La Caleta beach. However, this is not the tourist-facing, postcard-ready side of Cadiz. La Viña is where the gaditanos actually live, where the carnival groups rehearse in the street, where the fishmongers set up near the waterfront, and where you can eat well at a table that has no menu in four languages.
That is a genuine advantage. In practical terms, guests at La Caleta QE Hotels are in the heart of the city, not on the edge of it. La Caleta beach is a two-minute walk. The cathedral is about ten minutes on foot. Torre Tavira and the Camera Obscura are less than 350 metres away. Mercado Central, the best market in the city, is close enough to reach before breakfast.
From there, the Castillo de San Sebastián, at the end of the causeway that closes off La Caleta beach on the western side, is a twelve-minute walk. The Castillo de Santa Catalina, at the other end, is eight minutes. In fact, both are free to visit and genuinely worth it, particularly at sunset.
Overall, the area is covered in our things to do in Cadiz guide and our where to eat in Cadiz guide has specific recommendations for the La Viña neighbourhood.
Getting to La Caleta QE Hotels
The address is Calle Pericón de Cádiz 16. In practice, if you are navigating by phone, it is better to search for the hotel name directly rather than the street, as the surrounding lanes in La Viña can look confusing on a map at first glance. That said, any taxi or private transfer driver who knows Cadiz will get you there without any difficulty.
From Jerez Airport (XRY): the recommended option
Jerez Airport is the closest commercial airport to Cadiz and the arrival point I handle most frequently for guests heading to La Caleta QE Hotels. The distance is approximately 45 kilometres and the journey takes around 35 to 40 minutes on a normal day.
In most cases, booking in advance makes a real difference here. Jerez Airport is small, and as a result, the taxi rank outside arrivals has a limited number of cabs. On busy summer afternoons, especially when several flights land within the same hour, those taxis tend to disappear quickly.
Because of this, a pre-booked transfer is the more reliable option. Your driver has your flight number, tracks delays, and is waiting at arrivals with your name on a board regardless of what time you land.
From Seville Airport (SVQ)
From Seville Airport (SVQ), the situation is slightly different. In this case, Seville Airport has far more international routes than Jerez, particularly from the UK, Germany, and North America. The transfer to La Caleta QE Hotels takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
As a result, it is often chosen by travellers who find better flight connections into Seville, even if the journey is a bit longer compared to Jerez.
Full details on this route, including bus and train alternatives, are in our Seville Airport to Cadiz transfer guide.
From Malaga Airport (AGP)
From Malaga Airport (AGP), journeys are longer but still commonly used by international travellers. In particular, this option is frequent for guests flying from further afield, especially from North America or the Middle East connecting through Malaga. We regularly cover this route for guests arriving at La Caleta QE Hotels and other properties in the historic centre.
Even so, it remains a reliable transfer option when flight connections make Malaga the most practical entry point.
All prices are for the whole vehicle and are confirmed before travel. In addition, child seats are available on request. For groups of four or more, a van is usually the most practical choice, as it offers more space and allows costs to be shared across the party.
Finally, you can book your transfer at cadiztaxipremium.com. Fixed price, flight tracking, and a name board at arrivals are included as standard.
Choosing the Right Vehicle
La Caleta QE Hotels has 21 rooms, which means most arrivals are couples or small families. As a result, here is what typically fits each group.
- Solo or couple with standard luggage: a sedan is the right choice. Comfortable, air-conditioned, and direct to the hotel door.
- Family of three or four with larger luggage: a sedan still works for three passengers, but in practice, if you are four people with full holiday luggage, a van is worth considering for the extra boot space.
- Group of five to seven: a van or minivan is the most practical option. Everyone travels together, and luggage is handled properly.
- Group of up to nine: our 9-seater service. In this case, you still get the same fixed-price approach, flight tracking, and direct drop-off at the hotel.
For full details, see the 9-seater taxi page for group booking options.
Tips for Guests Staying at La Caleta QE Hotels
Before you arrive
- The hotel is located in a pedestrian-priority zone. In practice, your taxi or transfer can reach the entrance without issue, but if you are driving yourself, it is better to park at Parking Valcárcel and walk two minutes. That said, trying to navigate the narrow streets of La Viña with a rental car and luggage is not recommended.
- Check-in follows standard hotel hours, but the 24-hour front desk means you can arrive late without any problems. As a result, even if you have a night flight, you can simply book your transfer accordingly and the hotel team will be ready when you arrive.
- The rooftop pool is small and especially popular in summer. For this reason, it is best to go early in the morning or in the evening if you want to enjoy the view without competing for space.
- Breakfast is continental and included in some rates but not others. Therefore, it is worth checking at the time of booking. If it is not included, Bar La Tabernita and the cafés along La Caleta seafront are often a better alternative anyway.
During your stay
- La Caleta beach is two minutes from the front door but it is small. It fills up by mid-morning in July and August. Playa de la Victoria, the longer Atlantic-facing beach, is a twenty-minute walk or a short taxi ride and has more space.
- The La Viña neighbourhood gets lively in the evenings. This is a good thing. The noise is street life, not traffic. If you need complete quiet, the soundproofed windows do their job.
- El Faro is around the corner and is genuinely one of the best seafood restaurants in Cadiz. Book in advance for dinner, especially in summer.
- The Torre Tavira Camera Obscura is 350 metres away and worth an hour of your time, particularly on a clear day when the live image of the city is at its sharpest.
See our Torre Tavira guide for opening times and what to expect.
Getting around from the hotel
The historic centre of Cadiz is compact enough that you do not need transport for most things. But if you want to go further, a private taxi is the practical option. The streets of La Viña do not make ride-hailing easy and the bus network requires local knowledge.
Our Cadiz tourist taxi service covers day trips to Jerez, Vejer de la Frontera, Bolonia beach, the White Villages, and anywhere else in the province. We can pick you up directly from the hotel.
If you are planning a beach day at Novo Sancti Petri, our guide to Novo Sancti Petri and Playa de la Barrosa has everything you need, and we can arrange the transfer from your hotel door.
How La Caleta QE Hotels Compares
Cadiz has several well-regarded hotels in the historic centre. Here is how La Caleta QE Hotels fits into that picture, based on what I see from guests who stay at each of them.
- Parador de Cadiz: larger, seafront location, formal feel, higher price point. The views are exceptional. Guests who prioritise view and prestige choose the Parador.
- Senator Cadiz Spa Hotel: modern, larger property near Playa de la Victoria. Good spa facilities. Better for guests who want a full resort experience within the city.
- Hotel Cadiz Bahia: well-located near the beach, reliable mid-range option. Similar price to La Caleta QE Hotels but less boutique in feel.
- La Caleta QE Hotels: new, small, high staff attention, best location for La Caleta beach and the La Viña neighbourhood. The right choice for guests who want to feel like they are actually in the city rather than next to it.
